Environmental Education in Playa del Carmen: A Sensory Experience

Within the vibrant framework of the Environmental Festival “An Immense World” in Playa del Carmen, the Eco-Bahia foundation presented its most inspiring workshop to date: “The Tree that Became Paper.” More than 50 enthusiastic participants gathered at La Ceiba Park to experience firsthand the impact of paper consumption and the vital importance of sustainability.

This unique event unfolded across four immersive stations, each designed to create an emotional connection between participants, the story of paper, and the essential value of trees. From the hands-on process of recycled paper making to crafting leaves with powerful messages that gave voice to the trees, every moment was an invitation to reflect and take action for the environment.

Sustainable Activities for All Ages

Luis Verdín, General Manager of the Eco-Bahia foundation, shared his enthusiasm: “This workshop is a cornerstone of our environmental education program. Our aim is not only to inform, but also to inspire and transform habits in order to foster a more conscious relationship with nature.”

The stations ranged from the interactive journey “From Tree to Paper” to the moving experience “Paper Speaks,” where participants expressed their commitments on sheets of recycled paper. Each activity served as an opportunity to reinforce the foundation’s commitment to the conservation of the Mexican Caribbean.
