The Eco-Bahia foundation was founded in 1999 thanks to the vision of Bahia Principe and its founder Don Pablo Piñero, with the mission to promote environmental conservation and a sustainable lifestyle, respecting and loving the nature that surrounds us.
To celebrate its 20th anniversary, a special event was held at the Bahia Principe Residences, an ecological recovery area where several cenotes were recently restored, creating a space for guests and property owners to connect with nature.
Guests were welcomed by a shaman at the main entrance, followed by a choir of Mayan children that moved the audience. Katia Cordourier, Director of Eco-Bahia, gave a warm welcome:
"We are very proud to celebrate 20 years as a foundation and to share with you all the achievements in favor of the environment, flora, and fauna of this wonderful place. Environmental conservation is a responsibility for all of us."
The celebration also included surprise performances with dancers and pre-Hispanic music, full of color and tradition, reminding attendees of the cultural roots of this magical destination.
A photo and video exhibition showcased the history of Eco-Bahia and its major achievements in environmental protection. Guests enjoyed an evening of music and tasting traditional Mexican dishes served on natural bases made of coconut, wood, and fruit shells, accompanied by traditional drinks such as mezcal and tequila.
This event not only celebrated two decades of environmental conservation but also reinforced the commitment of Eco-Bahia and Bahia Principe Hotels & Resorts to sustainability and environmental education, inspiring everyone present to care for local flora, fauna, and ecosystems.
