From October 17 to 20, the 7th National Sea Turtle Meeting took place in Quintana Roo, Mexico. The successful event brought together students, researchers, and government and non-government organizations dedicated to sea turtle conservation both nationally and globally.
The Eco-Bahia foundation, as an active member of the conservation community in Mexico, had the honor of serving on the organizing committee. With over 270 committed attendees, the event exceeded expectations and highlighted the importance of collaborative efforts to protect these species.
The central theme of this edition, held at the Playa del Carmen Planetarium, was “Community.” This gathering serves as a key platform for exchanging knowledge and experiences among conservation camps across the country, representing social unity in facing protection challenges.
“We are delighted to have participated in this project. Over four days, we discussed community-focused actions essential for protecting and restoring sea turtle populations,” said Yuritzi Espino, Manager of the Eco-Bahia foundation.
Efforts during each nesting season are encouraging for conservation in Quintana Roo, but it is vital to continue and strengthen these actions to ensure the long-term survival of sea turtles.
