A Call for Environmental Awareness from the Big Screen
Eco-Bahia, in partnership with Sustainable Ocean Alliance (SOA) Mexico, hosted the Conscious Cinema Series in Playa del Carmen this past August. The event was designed for guests, employees, and the local community, with the goal of sparking reflection on the importance of caring for and protecting our planet.
This initiative is part of Eco-Bahia and Bahia Principe Hotels & Resorts’ ongoing commitment to environmental education and community engagement, connecting residents and visitors alike through activities that encourage greater responsibility toward nature.
The series opened with the screening of Deep Rising, an exclusive documentary exposing the risks and devastating effects of deep-sea mining, prompting powerful reflection on the fragility of our oceans.
It continued with Our Living World, featuring its first episode, The Wonderful Web of Nature, which highlights how all species — from the smallest to the largest — are interconnected within a delicate natural balance.
These visual experiences helped the audience better understand the importance of biodiversity conservation and the urgent need to take action against environmental threats.
Pablo del Toro, Head of Environment at Eco-Bahia, emphasized the importance of this initiative:
