Hi! How are you?

It’s me, the Earth. Do you remember me? It’s been a long time since we last talked 😥

I am the soil that holds you, the sea that calms you, the air you breathe without even noticing. I have written to you in the form of wind, rain, and silence. I have called out to you through birdsong, the crackle of coral reefs, the heartbeat of forests.

But lately, you don’t reply.

You read the message… and leave me on read.

You didn’t say goodbye, and I feel your absence, as if you had ghosted me. Hasn’t it been enough to light up your days, feed you, and make your life possible? It seems that every time something makes you uncomfortable, you ignore me. “Later” is your favorite word. “Others can do it, it won’t make a difference if I do,” your excuse.

And the reply never comes.
I’m not angry. I’m tired.

Tired of sending signals and being invisible. What more do I have to do for you to notice?

My way of telling you that something hurts.

When temperatures rise and water becomes scarce, when beaches change, when some animals are no longer seen… it’s not a coincidence. These are messages. Attempts at connection. My way of telling you that something hurts.

I believe your lack of attention comes from fear. Fear of not knowing how to live differently. Fear of not being able to change. But taking care of each other means learning to value what we have before it’s lost. Fear of accepting that we must change the way we live, travel, produce, and consume. Fear of accepting that I am not an infinite resource, but a fragile home.

I have limits too

For centuries, I took care of you without asking for anything in return. I regenerated myself. I adapted. But today, I need you to truly look at me.

I don’t need grand promises.
 I need attention.
 I need consistency.
I need us to reconnect without rushing, with respect, understanding that we are deeply interconnected.

The first step is listening again

Breaking the cycle of ghosting the Earth starts with something simple and powerful: listening again. Paying attention to what is happening in ecosystems, caring about what science and communities have to say. Tuning into the signals, which are becoming louder and more urgent.

Responding doesn’t mean doing everything perfectly. It means not disappearing. It means showing up.

At Fundación eco-bahia, we invite you to appreciate the Earth starting with what’s closest to you. This Earth Day, don’t ghost the planet—respond with actions that come from the heart.

Press play, share, and be part of the change 🌍✨

In this video, we show you why every small action counts and how, together, we can make a difference: https://youtu.be/WibwcClK_qE
