Throughout April, the Eco-Bahia foundation celebrated Earth Day with special activities designed to promote environmental awareness. During the ecological tours, participants were invited to reflect and commit to nature through concrete actions that contribute to environmental care.
As part of these activities, the Eco-Bahia team organized the Organic Garden Workshop, where attendees learned how to create a home garden using organic resources produced in everyday life.
The workshop guided participants through the process of seed planting, the necessary care in terms of nutrients and watering, the characteristics of each plant, and the stages after germination. With a practical approach, participants gained the tools to replicate this knowledge at home.
Before starting with the planting, participants also joined a tour through the Ecological Walk, the Meliponary, the Maya House, and the Cenote, reinforcing the importance of protecting ecosystems and understanding how a healthy garden contributes to the well-being of nature, animals, and people.
On April 19, nine local residents participated in a workshop dedicated to building sustainable home gardens. Later, on April 22, a second session was held with 20 students between 12 and 15 years old from the Transformar Educando association in Puerto Morelos.
Both workshops were met with great enthusiasm, and participants left not only with practical knowledge but also with a stronger commitment to healthy food and environmental care.
At the Eco-Bahia foundation, we reaffirm our commitment to continue organizing workshops and activities that strengthen community environmental awareness. These initiatives are part of the mission of Bahia Principe Hotels & Resorts, which promotes sustainable practices for the benefit of both people and the planet.
We will continue to create educational experiences that connect residents, youth, and visitors with nature, encouraging a more sustainable lifestyle in the Riviera Maya.
