The Eco-Bahia ecological foundation commemorated International Mother Earth Day together with the community group Ceno Tic in Chemuyil. The event consisted of cleaning the main streets to promote environmental awareness and community efforts to address ecological challenges.

A total of 281 kg of waste was collected, including glass, cans, PET, cardboard, non-recyclable materials, and tires. This initiative reflects the community's commitment to reducing environmental impact in the Riviera Maya.

The Importance of This Date

Earth Day, celebrated every April 22 since 1970, aims to raise awareness about environmental protection. Around the world, marches, conferences, and activities highlight the need to care for natural resources and the planet’s biodiversity.

In Mexico, Eco-Bahia foundation joined this cause with the support of residents from the Residencial Lol-Beh complex in Chemuyil, reaffirming the essential role of the community in environmental conservation.

Results of the Cleanup

The cleanup collected a wide range of waste, including a TV, sink, toilet, and car tires. These actions not only improve the local environment but also inspire more people to join in caring for nature.

Yuritzi Espino, Manager of the Eco-Bahia foundation, stated: “We are very grateful for the support from the Chemuyil authorities and all participants. It is vital to raise awareness of current environmental issues and take responsibility for reducing the impact on ecosystems.”

We are ecocentric Movement
