Environmental education as a driver of change
Today, environmental education is not just an alternative—it is an urgent necessity to ensure the sustainability of our planet. With this vision, the Eco-Bahia Foundation has developed a strong educational program that positively impacts local communities near Bahia Principe Hotels & Resorts and various protected natural areas.
Alex Matas, Director of the Ecological Foundation in the Dominican Republic, highlights: “It is vitally important to reach schools and high school students in the communities surrounding our hotel complexes. By doing so, we not only help improve those ecosystems, but we also give greater meaning to the conservation and restoration programs we have been working on for years.”
In this way, Eco-Bahia ensures that environmental protection goes hand in hand with academic formation, instilling values of respect and care for nature.
Meanwhile, Yuritzi Espino, Manager of the Eco-Bahia foundation in Mexico, emphasizes the importance of combining environmental learning with cultural identity. “We are convinced that these experiences are essential to cultivate greater environmental awareness in new generations and to inspire long-lasting commitment to protecting our natural surroundings. The combination of environmental and cultural learning not only enriches the educational experience but also strengthens the sense of responsibility toward the conservation of our natural resources.”
Through these efforts, Eco-Bahia empowers the development of young environmental leaders prepared to face the challenges of the future.
Planting the seeds of a green and sustainable future
Beyond the direct conservation of ecosystems, Eco-Bahia strongly believes that education is a powerful tool to transform the way people interact with the environment. Initiatives like these are essential to building a greener, fairer, and more sustainable future for all.
