A Commitment to Regenerative Tourism and Biodiversity
With a strong commitment to regenerative tourism and the protection of Mexico’s natural capital, Fundación EcoBahia —an environmental foundation linked to Bahia Principe Hotels & Resorts— carried out a series of strategic actions under its “Oasis de Péepen” program.
These activities were part of the 2nd National Monarch Butterfly Celebration, focused on promoting reforestation with native plants, wildlife protection, and strengthening community environmental education.
Through collaborative events with residents, students, and volunteer staff, more than 50 native plants were sown, including key host species for pollinators, monarch butterflies, and bees. These actions help to restore biological corridors and improve the resilience of local ecosystems against climate change.
In parallel, Eco-Bahia organized educational and recreational workshops for children and youth, addressing topics such as biodiversity conservation, recycling, habitat restoration, and sustainable practices. These activities foster a deeper connection between the community and nature.
“Every plant sown, every educational action, and every species protected represent an investment in our shared future. Conservation cannot be achieved alone; it’s a collective effort that unites science, community, and commitment. At EcoBahia, we firmly believe that protecting nature is protecting life,”— Luis Verdín, Manager of Eco-Bahia.
The “Oasis de Péepen” program also includes species monitoring and the restoration of areas impacted by human activity, engaging local stakeholders, educational institutions, and strategic allies. This collaborative approach enhances both the environmental and social impact of the Foundation’s initiatives, positioning it as a regional leader in conservation and regenerative tourism.
The actions led by Eco-Bahia reflect an environmental management model aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the vision of Bahia Principe Hotels & Resorts to promote more responsible tourism.
The organization invites everyone to join efforts to protect the environment and marine life by making donations or participating as volunteers through its official website:
