Rescuing Nature: The Natural Areas Conservation Program
At Eco-Bahia foundation, we believe that protecting natural spaces is essential to ensure a sustainable future. That is why we developed a comprehensive Natural Areas Conservation Program in Mexico and the Dominican Republic, focused on preserving native flora, restoring ecosystems, and promoting environmental education.
🌱 Native flora conservation
Many of the plant and tree species we protect are unique in the world. We produce, rescue, and preserve vulnerable flora in accordance with Mexican and Dominican laws, ensuring their continued presence in the landscape.
🌳 Habitat restoration
When ecosystems are impacted, we work to restore them by reforesting with native species, helping them regain their natural balance.
🚶 Access regulation
Enjoying nature responsibly is key. We manage and regulate access to conservation areas to prevent overexploitation and environmental damage.
📢 Environmental awareness campaigns
Education is essential. We carry out campaigns to raise awareness about the importance of protecting and using native plants, inspiring the community to make more sustainable decisions.
Thanks to this program, we have successfully rescued over 1,500 native plants and restored key areas for species preservation.
- In Playa Nueva Romana, in collaboration with the Project Review Department, we identified and protected priority zones for native species conservation.
- Through the “Leaving a Mark” reforestation campaign, more than 100 volunteers planted 51 trees including cedar, mahogany, chit palm, and ciricote in Playa del Carmen, bringing new life to urban spaces through community effort.
