Grupo Piñero has announced its environmental commitment to plant 14,000 trees in one year, as part of the “One Person, One Tree” campaign, a cornerstone of its sustainability policy. This action will enable the ecological restoration of degraded areas in the destinations where the company operates, while also increasing the carbon sink potential by more than 2,700 tons of CO2 per year.
In the framework of World Environment Day, Grupo Piñero is also promoting awareness activities aimed at both professionals and clients, reinforcing the importance of environmental protection on a global scale.
The Spanish multinational group joins the commemoration of June 5, World Environment Day, activating the “One Person, One Tree” campaign within the Somos Ecoistas movement. The goal: to inspire each person to plant a tree as a symbol of unity and collective action for the planet.
The target of 14,000 trees represents the number of employees currently working at the company, highlighting the idea that working together is key to achieving major environmental goals.
Grupo Piñero will identify in each destination the areas most affected by environmental damage to contribute to their recovery through reforestation with native species. This will expand forested areas, increase carbon capture capacity, and support biodiversity.
According to Isabel Piñero, Chief Sustainability Officer of the group: “Great achievements are made through small individual actions. ‘One Person, One Tree’ is a clear example of our commitment to promoting joint actions with a positive and real impact on the planet.”
The campaign is part of Grupo Piñero’s 2022–2030 Sustainability Plan, specifically under the “Planet” focus area, which includes all actions aimed at environmental care and protection. In 2022 alone, the company allocated more than 5 million euros to environmental projects across its destinations.
With this plan, Grupo Piñero seeks to continue and strengthen initiatives aligned with its environmental strategy and long-term sustainability goals.
In Palma de Mallorca, Grupo Piñero organized an awareness day with Spanish naturalist and environmental journalist José Luis Gallego, focused on the global environmental challenges humanity will face in the coming years and the risks they pose to the tourism sector.
In the Canary Islands, the company carried out a symbolic planting of Canary Island dragon trees, a legendary species and regional symbol, with employees and clients. Likewise, in Bahia Principe Hotels & Resorts across different destinations, guests and collaborators participated in planting native species.
Through its “we are ecocentric” movement, Grupo Piñero seeks to engage society in the action of planting one tree per person, fostering a united effort to care for and protect the planet.
This initiative is a reminder that even small actions can generate a meaningful impact when combined in a collective effort.
