As part of its environmental education program, Eco-Bahia foundation promotes the importance of recycling for environmental conservation. Over 300 kg of plastic caps were donated to Banco de Tapitas A.C., supporting its “Salvemos Vidas Reciclando” program.
Additionally, the lecture “Recycle, Reduce, Reuse: Towards a Change in Awareness” was delivered by Jossy Zamora, founder of the EcoCaribe conservation project, to CECyTe students and Bahia Principe Riviera Maya Resort staff.
Students from Escuela Secundaria Técnica Juan Rulfo participated in the Natural Sciences Academy Contest “Solid Waste Separators”, showcasing creativity and knowledge about proper waste separation. Eco-Bahia foundation served as a judge, alongside the Puerto Morelos Reef National Park and the Territorial Planning Secretariat of Solidaridad.
Recycling transforms waste into raw materials or new products, optimizing natural resources, reducing environmental impact, and fostering creative solutions to minimize our carbon footprint. Every year, Eco-Bahia promotes recycling and environmental education to inspire the community to care for the planet.
“Since 2015, we have supported Banco de Tapitas A.C., which recycles plastic to help children under 21 diagnosed with cancer. With everyone’s collaboration, we collected over 300 kg of plastic caps,” said Yuritzi Espino, Manager of Eco-Bahia foundation.
The lecture and recyclable waste identification exercises help participants understand the importance of proper waste separation and its impact on environmental conservation. These activities combine education, creativity, and social responsibility, fostering sustainable habits in the Riviera Maya.
