Through the Wildlife Rescue and Control Program led by Eco-Bahia foundation in Mexico, efforts focus on balancing tourism activity with the preservation of wildlife. All actions are carried out under a framework of environmental responsibility and a strong commitment to protecting natural resources.
As part of these initiatives, the foundation rescued and rehabilitated a kinkajou, also called martucha, a species related to raccoons and coatis, currently considered at risk of extinction.
For a full year, this animal remained under specialized care until it was ready to return to its natural habitat. The release took place last week under the supervision of PROFEPA and in full compliance with all legal requirements to ensure its well-being.
This case reflects the ongoing efforts of Eco-Bahia foundation in species conservation and biodiversity protection in the region.
The release of the kinkajou not only returned an animal to its natural environment but also highlighted the positive impact of conservation actions. These projects help raise awareness of the importance of protecting local wildlife and strengthen the mission of Bahia Principe Hotels & Resorts in favor of the environment.
