From October 25 to 27, 2024, the 22nd Sea Turtle Festival in Tulum was celebrated with great success, becoming a key event in the Riviera Maya for raising awareness about the conservation of sea turtles, essential species for marine ecosystems.

A festival of learning and awareness

With venues in Akumal, Tulum, and Xcacel, the festival gathered families, students, organizations, and conservationists committed to protecting sea turtles. Over three days, attendees enjoyed a wide variety of cultural and recreational activities, including:

  • Educational talks on marine conservation.
  • Art exhibits inspired by sea life.
  • Interactive workshops and family activities.

The event highlighted the challenges sea turtles face, such as pollution, habitat loss, and illegal fishing, while encouraging community action for their protection.

Eco-Bahia’s contribution

On the third day, the Eco-Bahia foundation joined the festival with playful and educational activities designed to inspire both fun and learning. The foundation also participated in the sand sculpture contest, achieving third place.

Through games and interactive dynamics, Eco-Bahia raised awareness about the importance of protecting not only sea turtles but also the entire coastal and marine ecosystem that sustains them.

Together for a sustainable future

The festival celebrated the beauty and importance of sea turtles, while emphasizing that community unity and commitment are vital to ensuring a sustainable future for marine biodiversity.

The 22nd edition was an unforgettable experience that reinforced the urgent need to preserve sea turtles. With enthusiasm, the community looks forward to next year’s festival to continue advancing in this conservation mission.
