Start of the nesting season

The beaches of Bahia Principe Riviera Maya have begun to receive, as every year, the first sea turtles arriving to nest. This natural cycle marks a key moment for the region’s biodiversity and for ongoing efforts to protect endangered species.

The team at Eco-Bahia foundation, through its Marine Resources Conservation Program, supports this process with constant monitoring and specialized protocols that ensure the safety of the females, the nests, and the hatchlings on their journey to the sea.

Turtle and reef conservation

In addition to protecting sea turtles, the Program includes monitoring the health of coral reefs and preserving the coastal dune within the resort complex. These integrated actions help maintain the balance of both marine and terrestrial ecosystems.

In recent weeks, 25 nests have already been identified and will be monitored until hatching. The goal is to maximize hatchling survival and ensure that more turtles reach the ocean.

Commitment to biodiversity

Nature continues its course, and Eco-Bahia foundation remains dedicated to monitoring and sharing updates to raise awareness among visitors and local communities.

The commitment and dedication of the entire team reinforce the role of Bahia Principe Hotels & Resorts as an ally in marine conservation and the protection of emblematic species such as sea turtles.
