Bahia Principe Riviera Maya Resort welcomed students and teachers from Colegio Puerto Aventuras to learn about “Hotel Sustainability.” The visit included audiovisual presentations, educational activities, a beach cleanup, environmental talks, an exciting “crocodile tour,” and a visit to the collection center, teaching children in a fun and interactive way.
As part of Grupo Piñero, the resort presented its 2022-2025 Strategic Plan, placing sustainability at the center of its operations. The strategy is built around three pillars: Governance, People, and Planet, promoting ethical management, well-being, professional growth, and a clean, circular business model that optimizes resources.
The day began with a welcome breakfast organized by staff from all areas of the resort, aimed at helping children learn about sustainability from an early age.
Roberto Sánchez, Sustainability and CSR Manager Mexico, stated: “It is essential to raise awareness among children about environmental care and show them how they can apply these strategies at home, in the community, and in the future at work.”
Educational and Fun Activities
The first activity took place at the “Kids Club,” where children participated in games, educational activities, and audiovisual presentations about environmental care, learning how small actions within a hotel or in daily life can make a big impact.
Next, they visited “La Playa Aventuras DIF,” a certified beach recognized for its sea turtle conservation, where they conducted a cleanup, identifying and sorting waste, managing sargassum, and learning about the protection of flora, fauna, and coral reefs carried out by Eco-Bahia ecological foundation. The activity concluded with the raising of the clean beach flag.
To end the visit, the children enjoyed the exciting “Crocodile Tour” and visited the collection center, where they learned in a fun way about waste separation and how to join the we are ecocentric movement, promoted by Grupo Piñero to encourage environmental responsibility.
Through this movement, society is invited to embrace their most “ecoist” side and take concrete actions to help preserve the planet, making environmental education a key part of Bahia Principe Hotels & Resorts and Eco-Bahia’s sustainability strategy.
