Environmental sustainability

The Eco-Bahia foundation in the Dominican Republic has been recognized as a member of the Sustainable Tourism Circuit of Samaná, a prestigious distinction awarded to institutions and tourism companies that operate under strict environmental sustainability criteria.

As the implementing arm of Bahia Principe Hotels & Resorts’ sustainability programs and part of Grupo Piñero, Eco-Bahia operates within a rigorous framework of responsible practices, including energy efficiency, waste management, water consumption control, environmental protection, and other daily initiatives. This commitment has been key to earning this recognition, which was accepted by the foundation’s Director, Alex Matás.

The Sustainable Tourism Circuit

The Sustainable Tourism Circuit is part of the Samaná Destination of the Future project, an initiative led by the Samaná Environmental Forum (FAS) that brings together more than 70 tourism companies committed to sustainability principles. Its goal is to promote a harmonious and balanced tourism development that safeguards the natural heritage of the region.

Each member of the Circuit pledges to adhere to sustainability guidelines, fostering a #sustainablenetwork in Samaná and helping position the province as a benchmark for responsible tourism.
