Underwater cleanup on International Coastal Cleanup Day

With the goal of raising awareness and actively contributing to the care of natural resources, Eco-Bahia, together with Scubaquatic, part of Grupo Piñero, conducted an underwater cleanup. This initiative aims to promote the importance of respecting the environment and conserving the oceans.

As part of the foundation’s programs on marine resource protection and natural area maintenance, a group of local and international expert divers from Scubaquatic gathered on the beaches of Tulum to carry out the activity. They collected 40 kilos of trash, including degraded plastic, plastic bags, metals, and other debris, highlighting the global impact of marine pollution.

Environmental awareness and community commitment

Ignacio Vera Simón, delegate of Scubaquatic, emphasized: “We are committed to our seas and resources. It is essential to raise awareness among residents and visitors, because only through individual action can we achieve significant results. That is why we joined this event organized by the Eco-Bahia Foundation to raise visibility of the issue and sensitize our community.”

Katia Courdurier, director of the Eco-Bahia Foundation, added: “Initiatives like this are essential not only to care for our home but also to raise awareness about the importance of maintaining our resources. We are part of Grupo Piñero’s ‘Somos Ecoistas’ movement, which promotes the idea that thinking Ecoist benefits ourselves, our families, our community, and, ultimately, the planet. Let’s continue adding our grain of sand.”
