Every year, on October 4, World Animal Day is celebrated, a date promoted by the World Animal Protection Organization to stop species extinction and remind us that we are all part of the cycle of life.
In this context, Tulum Country Club and Eco-Bahia carried out awareness activities, including a video and community actions, to encourage respect for animals and their habitats. “The goal is to raise awareness in the community about the importance of caring for the wildlife that is part of our surroundings,” said Katia Courdurier, director of the Eco-Bahia foundation.
The richness of wildlife in Riviera Maya
More than 200 species inhabit this destination, including deer, gray foxes, coatis, iguanas, birds, and a wide variety of insects. These species not only contribute to ecological balance but also enrich the natural beauty of the region. The initiative seeks to encourage simple practices such as respecting speed limits, since animals may cross streets and highways at any time.
The Eco-Bahia foundation’s wildlife rescue and control program is also reinforced, aiming to balance tourism activity with wildlife preservation. This program includes care, assistance, treatment, release, and relocation of animals to ensure their survival.
A shared commitment to sustainability
Community collaboration is key so that animals can find in Tulum Country Club a safe and attractive environment that meets their needs and allows them to remain an essential part of the ecosystem. “For us, sustainability is a primary objective. We work hand in hand with the Eco-Bahia Foundation to raise awareness among all our stakeholders about caring for our environment and improving the planet’s health,” said Álvaro Moya Corral, General Director of Tulum Country Club.
Tulum Country Club and PGA Riviera Maya integrate sustainable practices into all their operations, such as maintaining golf course greens without chemicals, as well as collaborating with the University of Chapingo on ecological, agricultural, and forestry research projects. Graduate students also carry out research on flora and fauna conservation at this destination. With these actions, the resort reaffirms its commitment to sustainable development and environmental protection.
