DONATE
The Importance of This Date

On December 15, 1972, the UN General Assembly declared June 5th as World Environment Day, with the goal of strengthening awareness about environmental care and conservation. This date is an opportunity to reflect: How can I play an active role in protecting our environment?

It’s time to act! Let’s begin implementing sustainable actions in our daily lives and replicating them at home, at work, and in our communities. In doing so, each person can become an agent of change for the protection of the environment.

Simple Actions with a Big Impact

An essential step is to be aware of the solid waste we generate every day. Asking ourselves: Do I really need this? Am I disposing of it correctly? Can it be recycled or reused?—can make a real difference.

Responsible water use is also key: closing faucets, repairing leaks, and properly separating cooking or machine oil to prevent it from reaching the drainage system are habits that help preserve this vital resource.

Energy and Responsible Consumption

Saving energy is another crucial action. Turn off and unplug electrical appliances when not in use, switch to energy-saving lightbulbs, and when replacing an appliance, choose efficient technologies such as inverter systems. Thinking before buying is also thinking of the planet.

Flora and fauna play vital roles in ecosystems. Planting native trees, using eco-friendly products, disposing of waste properly, and replacing disposable bags with reusable cloth bags are simple actions that contribute to their preservation.

United for a Sustainable Future

Every small action counts. Being an active part of environmental protection means thinking and acting responsibly while also inspiring awareness in our communities. As Eco-Bahia reminds us, caring for our planet is for the good of everyone—and for the generations to come.
